Euro 2020 Final Was Won By Italy
Italy is the champions in Europe. The Euro 2020 final was won by Italy over England in a penalty shootout. They are now the undisputed champions of Europe. This is Italy’s second Euro title, and the first since 1968. It was the first Euro final shootout since 1976.
Gareth Southgate, England manager, brought in Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford to take penalty kicks. Both missed. Gianluigi Donnarumma saved Sancho’s attempt to score from the penalty spot. Rashford struck the left post. Bukayo Saka, a young talent, was able to save the goalkeeper’s effort to win the title. This was England’s fifth attempt at winning it.
Italy’s second-half goal forced England to play extra time. They were tied 1-1 after 90 minutes. After Luke Shaw’s opening goal in the second minute, it was Leonardo Bonucci, a defender, who put the Italians on the scoreboard at Wembley Stadium. He cleaned up a ball that had fallen into the box with 23 minutes remaining. If no team is ahead after 30 minutes, penalty kicks will decide the match.
The songs began as soon as the Wembley Park underground station doors opened. They included paeans to Gareth Southgate, Harry Maguire, and renditions of “Three Lions” as well as “Sweet Caroline.” As the stadium appeared, they became more louder until it felt as though they were coming from the building.
The noise was loud inside, building force as it echoed backwards and forwards. It was as if England was in a very lucid state of mind: Luke Shaw scored, and hosts won the European Championship final within two minutes. Everything was finally coming home after nearly half a century.
Italy vs England Final Score: 1-1 (3-2 for penalties).
