Legend of the Ice Dragon Slot Review Play’n GO | Wclub365
Dragon’s in pop culture are nothing new, but one of the less common members of the wider dragon family is the elusive ice dragon. Novels are probably your best bet for bumping into one of these mysterious beasts. Examples include The Ice Dragon, part of The Saga of Noggin the Nog, and which fantasy fan could forget the nigh on unpronounceable White Frost Dragon Ingeloakastimizilian, taken down by Welfare and Dizzy Durden in the legendary Ice wind Dale Trilogy.
Play’n GO slot malaysia has come a long way from the purple-colored Gentleman’s Club of Wild Frames to the wind-swept snowy wastes of Legend of the Ice Dragon. Is Play’n GO going for Asian gamblers with this one? Perhaps, since there is an almost traditional Chinese looking dragon chilling on the right-hand side of the screen next to the 7×7 game grid. On the opposite side is the Ice Crystal Charger, while the background alternates between pastel-colored day and a Borealis lit phase.
Utilizing a cluster pays system, wins occur when 5 or more matching symbols land adjacent to each other horizontally or vertically. As to the pay symbols, in ascending order are found low pay clubs, spades, hearts, diamonds, then high-pay green, blue, and purple crystals, capped by an unusual red eye icon. The biggest clusters consist of 30+ matching symbols, and premium versions of these are worth 75 to 500 times the stake.
Legend of the Ice Dragon: Slot Features
Legend of the Ice Dragon does not come with a separate bonus game as such, but there is a menagerie of extras such as cascades, Ice Frames, Freezing features, and Ice Crystal features.
Mathematically, Legend of the Ice Dragon deviates from Wild Frames but not in a way that will be highly apparent a lot of the time. Both potential and RTP have decreased, which might not be the best news, though the default return value of 96.29% isn’t necessarily a showstopper.
As always, double-check the version you may be about to play as it may be found at lower levels, such as 94.28% or less. Volatility has been eased back to 8 out of 10, which is still technically high on Play’n GO’s rating system. Any device is suitable for giving Legend of the Ice Dragon a crack, where bets may be set from 20 p/c to £/€100 per spin.
Winning clusters are removed from the grid when they hit, and new symbols drop to fill up the empty positions. Cascades can lead to chains of consecutive wins, continuing until no more clusters are created.
The horned ‘W’ symbol is wild and creates sticky Ice Frames whenever they land. If a wild lands in an existing Ice Frame, it adds a multiplier to it that increases by +1 each time, up to a maximum value of x8. Only the highest multiplier is used for each winning cluster. Ice Frames remain on the grid for the full cascade sequence and are removed when a new spin occurs. The key point here is that Ice Frame Multipliers are inactive until the Dragon Blast feature is triggered – more on that below.
On any non-winning spin, there is a chance Freezing features may randomly trigger. There are 3 of them in total:
- Hailstorm – 3 instances of one symbol type on the grid are randomly chosen. These symbols plus up to 5 symbols adjacent to them are destroyed or turned wild. Up to 9 wilds may appear.
- Avalanche – an avalanche covers the grid, destroying all instances of 2 symbol types, leaving up to 7 wilds in their place.
- Blizzard – up to 5 symbols in the pattern are transformed into wilds or destroyed.
Ice Crystal Features
Winning symbols fill the Ice Crystal Charger, triggering Ice Crystal features when a certain number of symbols have been collected. 20, 40, 60, or 80 charges activate the Tail Lash, Ice Scorch, Destruction, and Dragon Blast features, respectively.
- Tail Lash – turns all high pay symbols into one type of high paying symbol.
- Ice Scorch – transforms 3-6 random symbols into wilds.
- Destruction – removes all low pay symbols from the panel.
- Dragon Blast – turns all symbols within Ice Frames into wilds. This also activates the Ice Frame Multipliers.
It is also possible to overcharge the Ice Crystal Charger. For every 10 charges over 80, +2 additional Ice Frames are added to the grid.
Legend of the Ice Dragon: Slot Verdict
If you’re in the mood for some cluster paying grid slot action, and the options are this or Wild Frames, which one would you go for? Each has its pros and cons. The subject matter is completely different, obviously, and a few of the technical details further drive the two games apart, so you couldn’t accuse Legend of the Ice Dragon of being an all-out clone as such. Legend of the Ice Dragon arguably offers a more exotic experience than Wild Frames‘ fruit/Vegas one. However, some players may well prefer tradition to fantasy.
Though, not quite as intense as Wild Frames, perhaps. Where the previous one could hit 7,000x (which we are yet to see evidence of at the time of writing, mind you), Legend of the Ice Dragon produces 6,000 times the bet in its best-case scenario. Factor in the lower RTP and Legend of the Ice Dragon loses an extra coat of sheen.
If you’re partial to a bit of Play’n GO grid slot gaming, Legend of the Ice Dragon is worth a look. The winning clusters leading to features dynamic has been put to good use and can produce the occasional big spin where it all comes together. For something slightly more vigorous, Wild Frames might be a better option, but the dragon theme is an entertaining compensation.
