Football should be a sport that unites the world, but yet it still haunted by racism issues, to this date. Recently, Chelsea’s player Antonio Rudiger had experienced racist abuse during the match against Tottenham Hotspur. Although every racism issue in sports always gains bigger attention in our society, Antonio Rudiger’s case kind of special because the incident resulted in the launch of Premier League’s anti-discrimination protocol being used for the first time ever.

Antonio Rudiger was seen along with his teammates and captain Cesar Azpilicueta met the referee of the match, and report the incident. Antonio Rudiger himself was seen mimicking a monkey gesture as he replicates what the fans had done previously. Right after the report, a total of three announcements was made in the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, and the club held a thorough investigation.

A lot of positive reactions were received by Antonio Rudiger, both from supporters or fellow footballers. And of them is come from Paul Pogba. The Frenchman has taken the battle against racism into his own hands in the wake of continuing ignorance being shown at football stadium across the continent.

No To Racism and We Are One Written On The Wristband

The 26-year-old player came off the bench as Ole Gunnar Solksjar’s side secured 4-1 win against Newcastle United on Boxing Day. He was seen wearing black and white wristbands during the warm-up. On the wristband we could see “no to racism” and “we are one” written on it. Paul Pogba also asked his teammates to join him wearing the wristband before the match, and he himself was seen giving his wristband to a young fan in the crowd.

When asked about the wristband, Paul Pogba admits to sports book Malaysia that it was his idea to use the wristband and all.  He said, he has been thinking about doing that, but he didn’t want to go through the UEFA or FIFA, and he decides to do it by himself. Paul Pogba himself was subjected to racism on social media earlier this season.
