Unai Emery has admitted that his defender Laurent Koscielny may be set to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer. Therefore, the Arsenal manager probably will get several new players this summer transfer market since there are quite a lot of players who already decided to leave the club.
According to reports, the France international defender refused to join the pre-season with his club and asking for permission to return to France. Eventually, his departure would leave something of a leadership vacuum on the Gunners squad, but Unai Emery pretty confident that his defender Rob Holding will be one of his potential captains the future.
Following this situation, Unai Emery said that he wants one English player in his five captains in the team. Last year, they have Granit Xhaka, Mesut Oezil, and Nacho Monreal working as captains. But now, Aaron Ramsey and Petr Cech have left the club, and soon Laurent Koscielny will take the same path, therefore Unai Emery will need more.

Emery Wants Someone Who Grew Up In The Academy

Explaining his reasoning, Unai Emery told live casino online that he wants to have a captain who’s an English player who grew up in Arsenal academy and can understand the English spirit and Arsenal values. The Spain manager said that they’ve lost some players with big experience and a long time in England and Arsenal like Petr Cech and Aaron Ramsey, and there is also a high possibility they’ll lose Laurent Koscielny soon. All of the name mentioned above began their captain career as a young player in on the early time on their career with the Gunners.
As we mentioned before, Unai Emery sees Rob Holding suitable for the position. Rob Holding was impressing at the heart of Arsenal defense last season. The only thing that holding him back is his injury in last December when he defends the Gunners against Manchester United in the Premier League game.
The fact is he has not played a single game since but he appears to be closing in on a return. Unai Emery stated that he is really happy with Rob Holding progress so far. The team needs his performances as a center-back. Before he had his injury, he was playing with an impressive performance.
On the other hand, Arsenal is reportedly is looking to bolster their long term center back options. They believed to have reached an agreement in principle with Saint Etienne to sign William Saliba this summer.
