Following the dismissal of Unai Emery as Arsenal’s manager, several names have linked with the Premier League club. So far, Brendan Rodgers and Mauricio Pochettino are believed to be the topmost suitable candidate for the position who left empty after the Gunners fired Unai Emery not long ago. But another name recently just came out as Arsenal’s top target to replace Unai Emery. Arsenal board reportedly have identified Mikel Arteta as their top target.
As we reported before Brendan Rodgers has mentioned as one of the most suitable candidates for the position. But the former Liverpool and Celtic manager hesitant whether he wants to leave Leicester City or not, as he believes he already made a bond with the club, especially the players. Meanwhile, Mauricio Pochettino who’s just recently fired from Tottenham Hotspur also linked with the club. But it seems Arsenal board thinks he’s not experienced enough even though he did a really good job with the Lilywhites on his reign. Unfortunately, he failed to bring any trophy for the club.
Mikel Arteta Is Pep Guardiola’s Assistant
Unai Emery arrived at the Emirates Stadium with a fine reputation, having won the Ligue 1 with Paris Saint Germain, and prior to his time with the France giants, he already won three Europa League with Sevilla. But sadly he failed to fulfill Arsenal’s expectation, and eventually, he lost his job after 18 months.
Mikel Arteta at this moment is Pep Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City. According to reports, the Gunners hoping to replace one Spanish manager with another. When asked about the speculation linking Mikel Arteta with Arsenal, Pep Guardiola said he believes Mikel Arteta will be a manager sooner or later. But his main focus at this moment is to finish this season. He said he don’t know what the future might hold.
The 37-year-old former player was appointed as Pep Guardiola’s assistant in July 2016, alongside fellow assistants Briand Kidd and Domenec Torrent. In fact, sports book Malaysia remember in May 2018 Mikel Arteta has also been linked with the Gunners following the departure of Arsene Wenger, Arsenal’s manager for more than 20 years. But eventually, the Gunners hired Unai Emery.
